I've been a casual Johnny Cash fan since I was a kid because my dad was always playing country music. The Man In Black was always a favorite of mine because I hadn't heard anything quite like him; he always had this incredible mystique that seemed sublimated beneath often run-of-the-mill C&W songs, particularly as his career progressed. But in the end, with almost his final gasp, he produced several covers, including Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" and U2's "One". The pick of them, though, is Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt", and it ranks as perhaps one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. The video is equally impressive. Think you don't like Johnny Cash? Think again.
