The BBC reports that Damon Albarn is recording with a new band! This is good news indeed. Everything that Albarn has touched has been wonderful, in its own way. Blur recorded some fantastic albums; Gorillaz are arguably the most exciting thing to happen to pop music this decade; and now he's teaming up with ex-Clash and Verve members to serve up (presumably) more guitar-based songs.
I watched an episode of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in which he was interviewed (along with Jamie Hewlitt, his Gorillaz co-creator; see 1, 2, and 3) and it completely changed my view of him. Whereas he appeared to be an art house snob, and while clearly being quite fiercely opinionated, he's actually extremely thoughtful, inverted, and funny.
