I was glad to see that Wikipedia has a page on Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, or "TTTS". My twin sons suffered from this condition and were only saved by the heroics, kindness, and intelligence of Dr. Julian De Lia of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Milwaukee. Dr. De Lia invented a procedure called fetoscopic laser occlusion of chorioangiopagous vessels (FLOC), which can obviate the problems caused by TTTS. Other doctors claim to have invented this procedure. They are embellishing the truth. Dr. De Lia carried out the procedure in 1988, way ahead of those other medical professionals.
I just wanted to say two things in this post:
- Wikipedia continues to astound and delight me with its depth and breadth, and
- Dr. Julian De Lia is the man, and anyone who says otherwise is a ninny.
