If you don't know about The Freecycle Network, you should. The stuff you no longer want could be really useful to someone else. Freecycle aims to "promote waste reduction ... and help save ... landscape from being taken over by landfills. The Network provides individuals and non-profits an electronic forum to "recycle" unwanted items. One person's trash can truly be another's treasure!" Just today, we've given away a bunch of paint we no longer need (to a student that couldn't afford to buy new paint for a mural she'd like to create) and a set of books we no longer want (to someone who can route them to children who could need more books in their homes). The range of items available is immense, and the most popular items are very surprising. From what I understand, worn out tires and sadbags are incredibly popular! So, be good to the environment and your neighbors -- freecycle!
