The BBC has announced that David Tennant will be the new Doctor Who! I've watched all broadcast episodes of the new series and it's remained true to the original (e.g. dodgy sets, ropey storylines, compelling TV!), and Christopher Eccleston has done a superb job. But I'm very eager to see what David Tennant makes of it. His performance in the BBC's dramatization of Casanova was absolutely superb, demonstrating pretty much every shade of Doctor Who-ness you could ask for (humor, bewilderment, romance, dynamism, intelligence). Interestingly, Casanova was written by Russell T. Davies, who has been responsible for much of the new Doctor Who. So this is excellent news...although I would have liked to see Eddie Izzard take a crack at it too!
