Bill Gates - "struggling to concentrate"

This BBC story, about some doodles by Bill Gates, is just too delicious. On the one hand, the press-hackery is exposed as reactionary and, on the other, Mr. Microsoft is identified as "not being a natural leader" and "struggling to keep control in a confusing world"!

Warwick and the RSC

So I read this morning that my old university, Warwick Uni, is collaborating with the Royal Shakespeare Company! Aside from being fantastic, this is another demonstration of how invested in the arts Warwick University is. Not many people know that the Warwick Arts Centre has the broadest and deepest arts calendar outside of London in the UK. Showing niche films, pioneering new plays, and all manner of one-man shows, it's a gem in the midst of midland mediocrity. It was at Warwick that I first saw Eddie Izzard and John Shuttleworth, and venues like the Arts Center really are the lifeblood of popular culture -- even when that culture is not so popular. Kudos to Warwick, again!

Getting Things Done

Getting Things Done is a book by David Allen that promotes a method of personal and professional organization that many in the blogosphere are saying really does work. I'm currently reading it and, so far, I'm very impressed with its concise, direct approach to organization of, well, everything in my life.
